Taking Better Holiday Photos Workshop
General Course Information:
Our holiday photography workshop is a 1 day workshop filled with a combination lecture and hands-on demonstrations of how to create better holiday photographs. Whether you are trying to capture better family photos, the holiday lights, decorations, outdoor displays etc. this workshop can help. This photography workshop is geared toward amateurs who want to learn simple non-technical methods to improve their holiday photos. Our instructor will share tips, "tricks", and techniques to help you improve you photos in time for the next holiday season.
Course Topics Include:
- How to create wonderful images of your family in front of a Christmas tree in both a dark room and a normally lit you.
 - Benefits and drawbacks to using Flashes and continuous lights.
 - Capturing candid photos of presents being opened, Easter egg hunts and similar situation.
 - Is Halloween a holiday in your family? We can show you to turn your friends and family into ghosts!!! (Just in photos, not for reel).
 - Setting up a camera on a tripod and using an intervalometer to take a photo every 15, 30, 60 seconds or how often you would like. This is an easy way to capture any holiday events while you participate with your family! Think opening gifts, Easter egg hunt, trick or treaters at your door and you don't have to take the photos, your camera does it for you (requires a camera with an intervalometer function or an external intervalometer).
 - How to use a flash and not have those horrible dark shadows in the background.

Course Requirements:
There are no requirements for attending this workshop but please read the following.
• Bring an Interchangeable lens camera if you have one (dSLR or Mirrorless camera) and a lens for the hands-on demonstrations will be helpful.
Please bring a pen & paper to take notes.
• Bring a printed manual for your camera - if you have one please bring it.
• Dress comfortably, we will be moving around, sitting, and standing.
• Having a sense of humor helps make the workshop more fun.
• This workshop is geared toward DSLR and Mirrorless digital cameras but many of the techniques can be applied to point and shoot cameras and cell phones. Those students who will be using a point and shoot camera will be limited by the abilities/features of their camera or phone. If you are using a phone for this class, please be aware that you should be able to find the camera settings and controls in the "expert or advanced" mode.

There will be a 15 minute break approximately half way through the workshop. You may bring drinks and/or snacks to eat during the workshop and of course bringing a sandwich to eat during the break is a good idea.
